Vintage Styled Wedding Inspired by Family
From Sara of One Love PhotographyFamily is the most important thing to us; having our wedding reception at the same venue where my parents were married was a dream. We also worked hard to make the ceremony a reflection of our beliefs as a couple – the wedding took place in a glass chapel built by the son of one of our favorite architects, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We have spent the last ten years driving up and down the coast together, so it felt like home. The ceremony itself blended our humanist beliefs with some more traditional ceremonial aspects out of respect and appreciation for our parents and grandparents. See more from Art Is For Lovers in the full SMP gallery!

If You Love White Decor, This Home Will WOW You.
When I first reached out to Sonja over at JS Life & Style about potentially sharing her home with us, it was in thanks to her amazing dining room that I spotted on insta. The chandelier, the rustic wooden table, the chic approachability. Beyond. When I saw all of the imagery though, I was hard-pressed to choose a favorite room (I’m looking at you Master Bedroom) and I was 100% convinced that you would feel the same way. So let’s get to it. Oh wait! There is even more in the gallery and Sonja’s instagram feed is pretty spectacular, too!

Perhaps the Most Beautiful Vows We’ve Ever Heard
If you only scroll through the gorgeous imagery by Kelsea Holder, you’ll fall in love. If you scroll through the gorgeous imagery and then watch the AHHH-mazing video from Anchor Pictures, you will be truly moved. The vows…”I promise to never settle for anything but our best. Even though our best will be beautifully imperfect,”…are some of the loveliest we’ve ever heard. You can see all of the photographs here – but then promise me you will take 6 little minutes to watch the touching film.

A Morning Wedding With A Doughnut Brunch
From the Bride… We liked the idea of having a morning ceremony and hosting a brunch reception afterwards not only because we love brunch food and mimosas, but because it would allow us to spend all day with our friends and family. It was the perfect decision for us, and the Four Seasons did an amazing job with all the food. Robert loves Voodoo Doughnuts, so we thought they’d be perfect for dessert displayed on a doughnut wall. It turned out to be a great conversation starter – everyone loved talking about the doughnuts and deciding which one they were going to pick! We also enjoyed the giant powdered sugar doughnut they made as our wedding cake. See more of Jenna McElroy’s gorg photos in the FULL GALLERY.

Bridal Portraits at Villa Del Lago Events Pavillion
Often in the South, brides choose to have formal bridal portraits taken. It can be so beneficial because the bride then knows how everything will look together on the day of her wedding. Such a fun tradition! For Jerika’s bridals, we rented Villa Del Lago. Jerika absolutely loved the European elegance, it’s romantic and natural vibe. Nestled on the edge of a hill overlooking Lake Travis outside of Austin, Villa Del Lago was the perfect setting for her bridal shoot. Jerika’s father passed away briefly before her wedding, so she had one of his favorite ties sewn into her dress for her something blue. This sentimental touch, along with the architecture, the flowers and the waterfall all worked together to create such memorable bridal portraits. —  Jenna McElroy Photography

The Many Faces of Beauty Through The Lens Of Tec Petaja

One of the really wonderful things about being a bride is that you will be luminous – your happiness will truly be reflected in your face. Which is why it is the prefect time to have your pictures taken. Every woman has many beautiful looks, and we love the way this is shown in this wonderful set of images. One woman – but many different looks. Photographer Tec Petaja gathered some of his favorite vendors close to his home base of Nashville, Tennessee and put on an intimate workshop for just a couple attendees that had the opportunity to create these visions. So pick your favorite version (or two) of yourself and capture the moment!

How an Interior Designer Hosts a Party
I am so excited to share today’s feature with you because not only is it filled with awesome entertaining tips that we will all keep in our little arsenal, it’s also highlighting one of my favorite interior designers, Marie Flanigan. Marie’s work is the very definition of elegance, as she approaches each project with a sense of grace and timelessness that can literally be felt. In her words, “Magic is found in the balance of vision and attention to the finest details,” whether it’s designing a forever home or hosting a sweet backyard party. Oh and did we mention she is also taking over insta today?

Lake Michigan Inspired Affair
The main reason that Sara and Eric decided on the Pilot House at Discovery World for their wedding reception was because of the incredible 360 degree views of Lake Michigan and Milwaukee’s beautiful Calatrava. From almost every spot in the room, you can see the blue waters of the lake with the Milwaukee skyline in the background. They were both insistent that when designing the overall look for their big day, the amazing views were showcased. Impressions by Esther Fleming created an assortment of all glass vessels that left unobstructed views of the lake. With natural light bouncing off the glass, the entire room took on a light, airy sparkle and the jewel -toned blooms helped create a feeling that was reminiscent of a lush fall garden. ~ The Bride Consultant

The Light-Filled New England Home of an Interior Stylist
When you flip open most magazines, you see homes that are gorgeous. And wildly unachievable. And that bugs me. Because who can afford to do what most glossies consider pretty? But here on SMP Living, it’s different. You get that same magazine-worthy home though instead of Picasso’s and $1500 bar stools, you get ideas for your home where products come from regular ole home stores, styled to look impeccable. Such is the case with Elizabeth Bear – interior designer and stylist to some pretty awesome brands – who is opening up the doors to her light-filled home. So much more on her insta too!
